We are very fortunate that several experts in galaxies and cosmology in town this semester, giving talks about their work in particular. Their talks will be cutting-edge, but should also be (mostly) accessible given your hard-earned ASTR406 chops.
I thus cordially invite you to attend any and all of these talks. This is not formally a part of ASTR 406, and you are not required to go.
