Post your response on the course Compass site

Due Wednesday, May 5, 12noon

  1. Cosmological Forecasting. You have gotten a sense of the current state of modern cosmology. You have seen where we have been and where we are now. Now it is your turn to guess where we are going. To make things interesting, adopt a time horizon of 10 years--i.e., long enough that you will be out of grad school and possibly already a faculy member, but not so long that you will have grey hair (and maybe not even yet gotten tenure!). Indeed, if your predictions turn out right--I'm sure the reliable CompassTM software will keep them safe until then--you could use them to help in job searches and promotions!

    1. What do you expect will be the main topic(s) in cosmology ten years from now?
    2. What current questions do you believe will be settled by then?
    3. What current questions do you believe will remain unsettled?
    4. What surprises do you expect, or hope for, or cynically imagine?
