| Time | The third Hour Exam will be held in class Wednesday May 2. You will have the usual class time, 50 mintues, to answer the questions. This will conclude the course and there will not be any exam in this course during finals week. |

| Topics |
The material covered is all discussion from Gamma-Ray Bursts through Aliens, which spans Lecture 25 on March 26 through Lecture 38 on April 30. All lecture and homework material through this time is fair game. The exam is not cumulative in the sense that there will not be questions on asteroids and impacts, or on threats from solar flares or supernova explosions. But of course many of the concepts from the first part of the course are needed to understand the new material, such as forces, gravity, atoms, massive stars, etc. |

| Question Format | The exam will consist of multiple choice questions, possibly with a bonus question. The homework questions serve as a an excellent guide for the kind of topics and questions the instructor considers to be important. In fact, some of the exam questions will have a "strong family resemblance" to homework questions. |
| Study Tips | The best way to prepare for the exam is to be sure you are clear on the concepts and to be able to understand and apply the concepts and equations you have been given. In both cases, your lecture notes will be helpful, as will the text. Reviewing the homework is also an excellent way to practice quantitative problems. |
| Study Sheet | You may bring 1 piece of regular, 8.5inch x 11inch paper with notes written on it. You may write or type whatever notes or diagrams you like on one or both sides the paper. This page is for your convenience only and is not necessary if you have studied well. If you bring a sheet, it is a very good idea to write it yourself, as the exercise of deciding what is important, organizing it, and writing it down, is a good way to study. |
