thirteen challenges

Spreading out the fourteen exercises among seven-to-ten weeks has some advantages.

First, it is advantageous for students to periodically return to the site over a span of time. Periodic returns over a span of time reinforce the Method of Loci function of the point-and-click navigation map.

Second, spreading out the exercises has the advantage of not overloading the students with "too much theory" in a short span of time

Third, speading out the exercises has the advantage of creating the potential for collateral learning as the students see how the concepts from the website can be applied (and misapplied) as they create written texts for class.

Finally, even though the time it takes to assess the students' reflective responses to each challenge can be as little as fifteen seconds, spreading the exercises out also spreads the assessment.
