Bonus Points

Bonus points are extra credit. You can still get 100% without doing any bonus work. There are a total of 100 Bonus points are awarded for:
  1. 50 points for your Completed Notebook.
We'll look over your notebooks at the final and if the lectures are 95% filled in you'll receive bonus points. This is to encourage you to come to class or watch the videos when you miss class.
  2. 21 points for 3 Bonus R exercises submitted on Lon Capa (7 pts. each)
  3. 29 points for 4 Bonus Surveys submitted on Lon Capa (7 pts each plus 1 free point for everyone)
You will be asked to complete surveys on Lon Capa. The surveys are anonymous but Lon Capa records whether or not you submitted a survey.

Bonus points can only help you. You can still get 100% without doing any bonus work. Bonus points are figured into your grade as follows:

Percentage on Required Work + 0.25*Percentage on Bonus Points
100 + 0.25*Percentage on Bonus Points

Suppose at the end of the semester you have a 75% average and you did 100% of the bonus work.

100/4 = 25, so add 25 to the numerator and denominator to get:

(75 + 25)/ 125 =80.

So your grade would be raised from a 75% to an 80%.

Overall Grade is Translated into a Letter Grade as follows:

A+ 97-100 A 93-96.99 A- 90-92.99
B+ 87-89.99 B 83-86.99 B- 80-82.99
