Conclusion:

It can be seen that the controversy of Chief Illiniwek has been around for a long time and it has continued even after the University of Illinois officially discontinued it. Chief Illiniwek has always been seen as a mascot that disrespects the Native American community which is why it has caused a lot of protests throughout the years.
Even today after 10 years since the University of Illinois removed Chief Illiniwek as its mascot many people still want Chief Illiniwek to continue being the university's mascot because of the tradition that it symbolizes. Many people still want Chief Illiniwek to be the university's mascot because of how it was around for such a long time and they do not necessarily view it as a symbol that disrespects the Native American community.
It also seems as if the controversy about Chief Illiniwek will continue for years to come because even after 10 years there are still protests. The protestors have protested at basketball games or during the homecoming parade in the past because during these events the chief or the logo has been present. Also, there are still people who support the chief that continue to use the logo, which causes the disagreement between both sides. Ultimately though, the chief will probably never return as the university's mascot because of all the controversy that is still present and eventually will continue.
