"Digital Dispositions: Cultivating a Social Justice-based Pedagogy to Pursue Equity in Classroom Technology Accessibility"

Abstract

Although previous studies have discussed the benefits of digitizing aspects of teacher’s courses, as well as classrooms that suffer from technological scarcity among students, much hasn’t been covered by way of social justice embodied (given this technological inequality) pedagogy as it pertains to teaching digital know-how. The inequality of technology access within classrooms impacts equal student learning; therefore, cultivating the social justice dispositions media makes possible through other means ought to be considered. This practice not only offers the opportunity to be critical of the tools educators mediate their classroom with/skills educators prioritize in class, but also better embodies the social justice background these dispositions have stemmed from. This website will provide an overview of these dispositions as well as a framework for future pedagogies that anticipate implementing technologic equity within the classroom.
