When one writes effectively to bring about change in the world,
- one is writing to a target audience.
A target audience is the individual (or group of individuals) the writer:
- aims to have read the writer's text, and
- aims to have perform a specific action (or
specific actions)—even if that action is writing-to-self.
The purpose of that specific action is to achieve the desired consequence (of the writer for a particular instance of writing). |
