The following embeded app shows the Appalachian Trail. Developed with ESRI Web AppBuilder in the ArcGIS Online platform, this app shows the center line of the Appalachian Trail, the major urban areas, the states, the major park forests and the shelters and parking facilities along the trail. The data layers have been properly and creatively symbolized and the pop-ups have been customized.
In addition, several attributes of the "shelter" and "parking" layers are editable so that some of the information can be updated by any hiker or employee of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy agency. Some layers incorporate visibility ranges and transparency in order to offer a good design. Finally the APP offers several widgets like "Measurement", "BaseMap Gallery", "Edit", "Find my Location" or "About" to provide users with some extra tools.
